Letters about school
The School of Valve Professionalism of International Valve Magazine receives a lot of letters. We have a notebook to write all the suggestions of our students. It is a kind of a book of complaints and suggestions. We have chosen a few the most constructive and critical notes and letters. These are the letters from our most concerned students. The School is going to continue its work in 2008 and we hope for more students and letters. |

Radical updating of valves for energy intensive units
Today goods, services, ideas or technical decisions move easily between countries, industries, companies. Various joint ventures are being created. “New” valves often are slightly changed out–of–date technical decisions. The reasons for selection of valves and specific manufacturer are hidden from the public. There is almost no centralization in the valve field. The author of the article, professor Ionaitis, describes his thoughts about perspective scenarios of decision of these problems. |

Actuator selection problem
It is well–known that any market consists of many single customers which make special demands of their own to the product. These demands differ from those of other customers. Ideally, every customer needs his individual product. Since it is practically impossible, the manufacturer has to group these requirements. So the market segmentation takes place, i. e. dividing it in groups with similar requirements to the products. Market segmentation problems are discussed in the article. |

End users requirements to new actuator developments
Operating principle is not a key factor for valve selection. The most important are the process characteristics which valves have to provide. An actuator should also meet this requirement. The leading engineer of a new technique department of OAO Uralelectromed's automation direction, V. P. Subbotin answers the questions about requirements for actuators. |

Power engineering valve market
Some trends of the valve market are reviewed. The most dynamic changing segments are estimated. The author believes the most significant changes will be in the power engineering valves. Also we should value the eccentric valves market which is forming and consider the market of polymer valves. This issue contains a review of the power engineering valves market. |

Final checking or The sad story of quality
Final checking is the last instance where the quality and product operability of the manufactured product are estimated and previously unnoticed defects are revealed. At first sight it is simple truth that is known to any equipment manufacturer. But what does the customer deal with in real life? This theme is discussed by deputy product director of unitary enterprise “Belgaspromdiagnostika” S. S. Kapirin. |
